Airsoft Controversy

There is a lot of controversy in the media surrounding airsoft. Airsoft guns are toy guns that use compressed air to fire pellets. Unfortunately, they look almost just like real guns, which has some people up in arms — figurately speaking.
Airsoft guns are usually used in adult games, kind of like paintball guns. They are made by manufactures like Tokyo Marui and Echo 1. As shown in the YouTube video, each one has a bright orange plastic piece to signify that it’s a toy. Of course, it doesn’t take much in the way of brains to realize that if you paint or color over the orange plastic, most people won’t know the difference.
Of course, most people who buy airsoft guns are not criminals. They are just regular people with a passion and a desire for entertainment. Airsoft guns are used in many adult games, such as Capture the Flag. These guns add an element of excitement and maturity to games that would otherwise be "just for kids."
I understand that people are concerned that criminals are using these guns to commit robbery and other crimes, but outlawing airsoft guns — like they’re talking about in the video — seems so ridiculous to me. I mean, really — you’re going to outlaw the toy and permit the real thing? Oh yeah, that will help reduce crime. Sure!
